Odacité Kind of Girl Lisa Hirsch Solomon

We are excited to introduce you to Lisa Hirsch Solomon, health driven businesswoman and Founder of The Studio (MDR), she embraces life at every point in time and reminds us that change is inevitable and a beautiful thing at that.

From Music Executive to Fitness Entrepreneur, Lisa saw an opportunity to follow her passion for wellness when she fell in love with the Lagree Method. She advocates that anyone can do what they put their mind to and encourages everyone to give fitness a try.

We are so happy we got to ask her some questions about her successful fitness studios while also getting to know her day to day health and skincare rituals.

Q: What inspired you to open your own fitness studios?

I always loved working out ~ yoga, jump rope classes, spinning, running, you name it. I had tried classical Pilates and liked it, but it wasn't until I was introduced to the Lagree Method that I knew this was “my workout!”. That was about 12 years ago and, clearly, it is the workout that held my attention. It was intense without pain and my body never fully adapted to the ever-changing routines. The results were and continue to be phenomenal! It benefits a wide cross-section of people, including my 71 year old Mom (she does it 3 x’s a week in Sarasota, FL), professional athletes and women who were about to have or just had babies. It seemed as if it was a unique, all-inclusive workout which, at that time, you only really saw in a spin class. I liked how you really only needed to do this workout 3 times a week to see a definitive change in your body and mind. This meshed with my desire to build a cohesive community that enabled people from all walks of life to get healthy. So, with the encouragement of my then boyfriend, friends and family, I took a huge leap of faith and really went for it! I opened my own studio – the first one in January of 2011 and the rest is history...

Q: What do you love most about the workouts your studios offer?

The Studio (MDR) is a place to escape, to change, to expand the mind, to create a personal haven, and to join a true community of like-minded people who want to change their bodies and, ultimately, to change how they function and become more meaningful individuals in this vast world that is ours. I strongly believe that the Lagree Method challenges all of us to become a better version of ourselves with guidance from the voice within and from that of our amazing teachers.

Q: What advice do you have for anyone intimidated to try a new way of fitness?

I think walking into any new situation can be scary at first – it’s the unknown! I always encourage those who are hesitant to give it a try just one time and to judge the experience for themselves. We go the extra mile to make our clients feel at home as soon as they walk through our doors, as customer service is #1 to us.

If you are coming to one of our classes for the first time, I always suggest starting with one of our Intro to (MDR) or Essentials classes to ease into our workout method. The instructor will demonstrate the use of the Megaformer, monitor the client’s form throughout the class and will encourage modifications where needed. If, for some reason, the time is not convenient for the client to take an Essentials or Intro class, one shouldn’t be afraid to jump into a Total Body class. The instructor is there to help the client through the class with modifications and will demonstrate the use of the Megaformer prior to the start of the class. We ask that everyone listens for all cues given by the instructor.

It is important to note that there will be modifications offered for those who have challenges with their knees, shoulders, etc. And, if one needs to stop, you stop. You are not holding up the class in any way. No one is staring at you. They are all concentrating on just trying to make it through. I think that everyone in the class has an immediate bond because you have to be strong physically and mentally to want to take this class.
I always say it takes about 5 to 10 times before you stop feeling like a fish out of water in class. Understand that this is okay and don’t beat yourself up. This method is intense but if you give it a chance, it can be life changing!

Q: Let’s talk skin… we are dying to know what your approach to skincare is?

I try not to overthink it. I am lucky that I have friends that are amazing estheticians so I try to get regular facials.

Q: What are your everyday skincare rituals that are non-negotiable?

I put collagen powder in my coffee every morning. I swear by it as I know it has helped my hair and nails grow and has made my skin more vibrant.

Under-eye cream, sunscreen and night cream are a must I have a few favorite products that I switch off in-between but there is always a good Vitamin C, Vitamin A and a beauty oil in rotation!

Q: Can you share your favorite Odacité products (and why).

I adore so many of the booster serums (Serum Concentrates)! Ma+N Marula + Neroli Elasticity and Mo+P Moringa + Petitgrain Very Dry Skin Serum Concentrates are total lifesavers when my skin is miserably dry, Pa+G Papaya + Geranium Hyperpigmentation Serum Concentrate is awesome for dark spots and CaR Wild Carrot Vital Glow Serum Concentrate gives an amazing glow. I also adore a Vitamin C serum, so both of the 15% Vitamin C serums (C for Colette and An Autumn on the World) are big favorites.

Three words that define you...

Loyal and Loving

Driven

Oh, and Birthday obsessed!

My alarm is set for

It’s not. I wake up between 4:30am and 5:30am daily except when on holiday.

I cannot start my day without

Snuggling with my two dogs

My fridge is always stocked with

Eggs, Almond milk, Berries, Vegetables, Lemons, Hot sauce, Spring water

My favorite workout is

The Studio (MDR)

My wellness obsession is

Finding the right clean beauty products for me and, to be honest, getting back to “simpler moments” which, for me, translates to sitting down and having face-to-face conversations with people as well as getting enough sleep.

The last book I read and last podcast I listened to was

Podcast: “How I Built This”

Book: in the middle of “Educated”

My favorite way to relax is...

Spend time laughing with family and friends

To get my creative juices flowing I...

Workout - it’s a moving meditation for me, whether it’s a spin class, a class at (MDR), a yoga class when I travel or hoping on my Peloton bike.

What is your definition of Beauty?

True beauty comes from within. You can’t fake a smile. If you think ugly thoughts, the most beautiful human is immediately unattractive.

My current mantra

Nothing is permanent. Change is inevitable so learn to embrace it with a big hug and a positive attitude or else life will be quite uncomfortable and most untenable.
