Aloe Vera Lemonade
Aloe vera is a power plant! It has many exceptional benefits for the body, including its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which can help soothe digestive ailments. There are many aloe vera drinks in the supermarket, but buying it fresh is always the best! Aloe vera also has external healing properties that can help soothe sunburns and scrapes.
In this recipe, aloe vera gives a hydrating and refreshing twist on a summer classic. Try this recipe for a refreshing way to enjoy the benefits of this wonderful plant!
Ingredients:
¼ cup (2 ounces) diced aloe
Juice of ½ lemon + ½ cup fresh lemon juice (from 2 large lemons)
3 cups cold water
¼ cup maple syrup, agave, honey, plus more to taste
½ cup of diced mint
How-To:
Soak the aloe in the juice of ½ lemon for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in a quart-size jar, combine the water, ½ cup lemon juice and ¼ cup maple syrup, agave or honey. Screw on the lid and vigorously shake until the agave is distributed. Give it a taste and add more agave, if desired. Strain the aloe from the lemon juice (discard juice) and rinse aloe very well under running water. Add to the jar, shake, and serve. Add mint for refreshing element Lemonade, with aloe, will keep in the refrigerator for 3 days.
